Their paths crossed in the summer of June 2015 in college, at the Rochester Institute of Technology taking summer photography classes. Julia was transferring from Advertising and Public Relations to fuel her passion for photography and Aaron was taking on a rigorous double major in Film Production and Photography. Little did they know, this Photo Arts 1 class would change their lives forever. The summer semester began and they began to notice each other more and more. And during one critique, Julia commented on Aaron’s photo and told him his bokeh (“BOH-kay”) was beautiful…Aaron was confused because there were no flowers in his photograph and said questioned her. He asked the “BOH-kə”? This mispronunciation of the word “bokeh” fueled a class argument and a little flirting between the two. The next day, they were assigned to be studio partners, spending the next 2 weeks together, learning and challenging each other while, jamming to their similar tastes in music. Fast forward to the end of summer, talking for hours into the night and unofficial dates, they went on their first real date on September 18th, 2015 to a Panic at the Disco concert. Aaron began searching for the perfect ring in January and found Emily Chelsea Jewelry, a local ethical jeweler based in Philly to create a custom ring, designed just for Julia. After asking her parents blessing in March, the coronavirus pandemic swept the US; and the couple found themselves stuck in their one bedroom apartment together. Two months later, Aaron couldn’t wait any longer. He convinced Julia to go on an early morning walk to watch the sunrise at Race St Pier under the Ben Franklin Bridge. They became #quarengaged.
